From 15 to 17 December 2024, a seminar of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with the participation of Tatiana Alexandrovna Dyatlova, member of the Presidium of the Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the Public Organization “Salvation of Yugra“”, Associate Professor at Yugra State University, representative of the Hanty people.
The seminar of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was organized by the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact, a regional organization founded in 1992 by indigenous peoples' movements. The organization has 46 members from 14 Asian countries, 18 national alliances/indigenous networks (national formations).
Tatyana Alexandrovna was a speaker at the panel session “Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Data Management” and the panel session “Indigenous Women and Data”, speaking about the experience of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra. Speaking about regional practices, the international community was presented the educational project “Stoybishchaya school-garden”, implemented in stoybishchaya boarding schools. The peculiarity of the model of education within the framework of the educational project is the integration of the family form of education with the traditional one, using modern digital resources. Here the leading role is played by a woman - mother - mentor - helper.
Together with Tatiana Dyatlova, the seminar of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was also attended by Alexei Tsykarev, an expert on the rights of indigenous peoples and public diplomacy, Program Director of the All-Russian competitive educational program "Small Indigenous Peoples of Russia. School of Public Diplomacy", UN expert on the rights of indigenous peoples in 2013-2022 and Antonina Gorbunova, moderator of one of the panel discussions, member of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
