By the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated November 25, 2025, at Yugra State University, in association with South Ural State University, a joint dissertation council 99.2.161.02 was established for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences, for the degree of Doctor of Sciences in the scientific specialty 2.4.3 "Electric Power Engineering" (technical sciences).

The established dissertation council became the first and only council of the Higher Attestation Commission in this specialty in the Ural Federal District. New dissertation council will allow young scientists of Yugra and the entire Ural Federal District to defend their dissertations in the council acting according to the norms of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation.

The Dissertation Council on Electric Power Engineering consisted of 12 people, 6 of them are YuSU representatives, 4 - SUSU, 1 - MPEI, 1 - OmGUPS. Vadim Manusov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Polytechnic School of USU, was appointed Chairman of the body, and Alexander Shepelev, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Polytechnic School of USU, was appointed secretary. In addition to them, Vladimir Kovalev, Dmitry Osipov, Vladimir Polishchuk, and Sergey Pyatkov became members on behalf of Yugra State University.
